Key Stage 4 - Biology
                                IGCSE Biology
At GCSE we follow Cambridge IGCSE course. The course is designed to expand upon the topics studied in Years 7 - 9,
and to allow students to develop their skills of knowledge and learning. Cambridge programmes and qualifications help
                           Cambridge learners to become:
confident in working with information and ideas - their own and those of others
responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others
innovative and equipped for new and future challenges
engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference

As Biology is compulsory at GCSE, we are able to encourage, extend and nurture those who enjoy the subject, whilst also helping ‘non scientists' to develop self-confidence.
During the final term of Year 11 students will take their IGCSE and will be awarded grades ranging from A* to G.
Candidates expected to achieve grades D, E, F or G, will be entered for the Core Curriculum and those candidates expected to achieve grade C or higher should study the Extended Curriculum.  There are three IGCSE papers; multiple choice, alternative to practical and an exam with more structured questions.  This variety of papers allows the students to use all of their skills learnt during the two years of the course.
